Federal agency seeks to loosen Dodd-Frank rule for nonprofits

One of the biggest drivers of the recent U.S. foreclosure crisis, which appears to still be ongoing in Florida, was lenders giving mortgages to homebuyers without first making reasonably sure that the borrowers will be able to pay. This zeal to issue big mortgages soon left many people in homes they could no longer afford, triggering numerous foreclosures.

'No maintenance' one excuse for insurance claim denial

The law does not require that insurance companies to honor all homeowners’ claims, only that they operate in good faith. This means that insurers must have a legitimate reason for offering a settlement that is less than what the insured party believes they are entitled to, or rejecting the claim entirely.
